Interest in boards up
The Christchurch City returning officer, Mr Max Robertson, spent most of yesterday answering inquiries from people interested in standing for the community boards of the new City Council. Publicity yesterday about the apparent reluctance of people to be nominated for board places triggered the inquiries. Mr Robertson said there had not been many extra nominations. There are six community boards in the city. Each will have six community representatives, three from each of the two wards covered by the board.
