Ferrymead appeal
The Ferrymead Historic Park has raised several hundred dollars from a direct fundraising appeal to members of the Ferrymead Trust. The campaign began early this year and it is the first time Ferrymead has appealed direct to its about 750 members. The park’s director, Mr Robin Sutton, said that while the park’s finances were “close to the line” it was not suffering a financial crisis. The Ferrymead Trust Board planned a “friends” support organisation which would enable people to give money regularly without being a member of the trust or having to work at the park. This support group would be part of the Ferrymead Trust and not one of the park’s many voluntary groups. Friend status could entitle people to certain privileges and discounts, Mr Sutton said.
