Man cons woman
The police are investigating a conman who duped an elderly Hoon Hay woman into paying for window cleaning which was not done. Detectives plan to speak to the man at his Sydenham home after receiving a complaint from a widower friend of the woman, who claims she paid $4O. “This man has come to our notice on a couple of occasions in the past,” said Detective Sergeant Neville Higgison yesterday. "He’s known to operate in the Hoon Hay and Barrington areas.” The man, described as a European, aged in his mid 30s, is usually accompanied by a young boy, when he canvasses for work. He is well spoken and says he will return to clean the windows. Detective Sergeant Higgison said it is possible other people had been conned, but had not contacted the police. “The public should be wary of this man,” he said.
