Sport Calvert all class
Dean Calvert, of Canterbury, was all class in easily dispatching David I Warren (Central North Island) in a light-welterweight bout at the boxing championships in Karaka, Auckland, last night.
Calvert, cool and fancy, is in his first senior year, and his clash with the tough Nuka Woods (Kaeo) should ]>e a big attraction. Danny /rooms (Canterbury) was tod good for Barry Galbraith (Nelson)
in their welterweight fight. Morris looked hungrier for the win than Galbraith, scoring with left hooks constantly. A straight right broke through Galbraith’s gloves, whiplashing his head a couple of times. Grabbing a unanimous
win off Galbraith is a feather in Morris’ cap. It follows his recent good victory over Sililo Figota, who will not defend his title because on Monday he stood on the scales overweight.
