Lovegrove injured
PA Auckland The national javelin recordholder, Gavin Lov,egrove, has had his Commonwealth Games preparations set back. Ranked No. 4 in the Commonwealth last year, Lovegrove has cut short his competitive tour of Eastern Europe because of a back injury. He competed five times in Hungary and East Germany for a best performance of 80.26 metres. But he has been unable to train or compete in recent weeks. “I’ve had my back Xrayed and it looks like I have a misplaced vertebrae,” Lovegrove said in Auckland yesterday.
