Domestic support lifts Aust.

NZPA-AAP Sydney Strong domestic support for leading stocks pushed the Australian sharemarket to a higher close yesterday. The all ordinaries index closed 7.4 points higher at 1634.2. There was little offshore buying, but the market moved higher due to underlying support and a shortage of good scrip, dealers said. The all industrials' index was 15.9 points higher at 2620.6 and the all resources rose 1.4 to 888.2. The gold marker fell 15.9 to 1578.2. National turnover saw 80.55 million shares worth sAustl69.B7M change hands. Rises slightly led falls.
