Scholarship winner praised
Jill Fraser, of Southland, this year’s New Zealand Standardbred Scholarship winner who is attending the Marcus Oldham Farm Management College in Geelong, Victoria, is set to graduate among the top students. This was advised recently in a letter sent to the scholarship sponsors, National Bloodstock, Nevele R. Stud, Great Northern Bloodstock,
Kenwood Stud, Roydon Lodge Stud, Max Bowden Standardbreds, Kina Craig Stud, the N.Z. Standardbred Breeders’ Association and the N.Z. Harness Horse Cadet Scheme. Reporting on her halfyearly examinations, a director of ttie College, John Stewart, said Miss Fraser is “an excellent horsewoman and definitely not frightened of hard work.”
“Jill is an excellent ambassador for the New Zealand standardbred industry. She is a quiet achiever who gets things done quickly and effi-
ciently,” said Mr Stewart.
Miss Fraser, aged 22, narrowly missed selection to the College last year when the scholarship was won by Michael Noble, who completed the course with distinction.
