Arthur and Margaret Farney (nee Watt).— Peter Sinclair Dillon would like to hear from any of their descendants. They arrived in Lyttelton on the Matoaka in 1860. With them was a son, Alexander, and his wife Margaret (nee Stewart), as well as another son, Arthur, a daughter, Christina or Christian, her husband, William Davie, and a granddaughter, Mary Farney. Peter Dillon has information on the Farneys tracing them to Aberdeenshire, Scotland in 1750. Any descendents can contact him at 10 Stanbury Avenue, Christchurch. Telephone 321068.
Ebenezer Charles Brown, Phillip W. Brown, of 102 Heta Road, New Plymouth, would like to contact any descendants of Ebenezer Charles Brown, born 1851 in Evercreech, Somerset, England. He emigrated to New Zealand on the Monarch in 1870, became a partner in a drapery business, Brown and Smith, and later was a manager of D.I.C, retiring in 1917. He died on March 25, 1932. His decendants include names of Brown, Shannon, Waldle, Wood and Castles, some of whom were buried in Christchurch.
Thomas Hansen.— Mrs Kath Hansen would like to hear from descendants of Hansen and his sister, Hannah King, who arrived on the brig Active in 1814 in the Bay of Islands. Both raised large families in Te Puna, and are buried there. A 175th anniversary celebration will be held on December 22 and will close with a family reunion in January, 1990.
