Fireman injured

A volunteer fire-fighter, injured when his leg was trapped under the wheel of a fire engine, was in Hutt Hospital’s intensive care unit yesterday. Hospital staff said Mr Jim Morrison, a third officer in the Eastbourne Volunteer Fire Brigade, was in a satisfactory condition. He was injured during a training exercise on Monday evening. Mr Morrison was getting off a fire engine when his rubber boots slipped. He fell and his leg was caught under the wheel of the moving engine.—PA
