Crossing to stay
Belfast School’s controversial pedestrian crossing on Main North Road will stay, a special meeting resolved yesterday. The National Roads Board told concerned parents it would not remove the crossing while doing maintenance near the intersection of Johns Road. The school had been told by the Ministry of Transport it could not run patrols on the north-bound lanes if there was no pedestrian crossing, the principal, Mr Neville Slaughter, said. “The idea of no road patrol was causing some alarm,” he said. “The Roads Board has been very generous and helpful.”
