Car prices to rise
New-car prices will rise from the end of this week, but not for most foreignassembled vehicles.
The price rise could add about $lOOO to the cost of a new car. Mitsubishi Motors, which this week announced that prices for most models will rise, is expected to be followed
by other manufacturers. Assembled cars imported from Europe might hold their prices or even decrease in price, as they attract a 5 per cent cut in duty from the week-end. All except Britishassembled imports will benefit from the tariff cut which could offset the rise in GST.
