Rope used in entry
Two young burglars who lowered themselves by rope into a central Christchurch warehouse were caught leaving with cartons of potato chips on Friday evening. The boys, aged 14 and 15, broke into J. Rattray and Sons, Ltd, in Lichfield Street, through a skylight at 9.50 p.m.
They were climbing back up the ropes when caught. One boy, aged 15, appeared in the Childrens and Young Persons Court yesterday, charged with several counts of burglary.
The other boy has been referred to the police youth aid section for assessment.
The boys are thought to be responsible for a number of roof-top break-ins of central city businesses.
