Titan Chip runs 1:53.2

Southland correspondent Titan Chip, by Transport Chip, became the second fastest New Zea-land-bred pacer when he recorded 1:53.2 in winning at the Meadowlands (New York) recently. Titan Chip won seven races for his Winton owner-trainer George Bennett, who bought him for $2700 as a yearling at the Southland Standardbred Sale.

Ashley Knight (1:52.2) is the only faster New Zealand-bred standardbred. Remarkable shares the second fastest honour with Titan Chip. Keystone Raider became the fastest 1989 pacer in North America with his 1:51 at the Meadowlands last week. A son of the Most Happy Fella mare, Romaine Dancer, he is by the boom outcross sire, Big Towner.
