Upset in Derby
The former New Zealand pacer, Nero’s Jay, caused an upset when he beat the glamour Victorian filly, Jane Ellen, in the sAustso, ooo CIG Queensland Derby Final at Albion Park last Saturday. Nero’s Jay (14-1) swooped on Jane Ellen (1-6) and It’s Motor Power (6-1) halfway down the straight and raced away to a decisive victory. The result was yet another major Albion Park success for Nero’s Jay’s trainer-driver, Kevin Thomas. Nero’s Jay has now recouped the five-figure sum paid for him by a three-man Queensland syndicate earlier this season.
