Catfish
Sir, —You report (June 21) that "anglers fear catfish farms.” The concern expressed by freshwater anglers over commercial farming of catfish and the possible effect on their so-called sport would be typical of the European attitude. It is all right for us to introduce a little bit of England (e.g. rabbits, deer, etc.) in the name of sport, which costs the nation millions of dollars in eradication programmes, but we do not want Runanga-O-Muri Whenua to create jobs and export dollars by catfish farming because it may affect our exotic species. How one-eyed Can you get? — Yours, etc.,
B. J. WILKIE. I June 22, 1989.
