Cost cutting
Sir,—With all the recent cost cutting perhaps the Government should start by cutting its own members’ salaries by half. Police are few enough and we should be doubling our police force not decreasing it. I commend anyone who joins the police in this violent age. Perhaps Messrs Caygill, Palmer, Tapsell, Lange and others would change their minds if they suffered rape, assault, etc. The education from police in schools also proves its worth many times, particularly in how to approach and handle situations that might arise. — Yours, etc.,
T. E. and B. R. BROWN June 24, 1989.
