No proof debris is off missing yacht
The police have no idea if debris found washed up on a Wairarapa Beach yesterday came from the missing Christchurch man’s yacht, Maranique. Several pieces of yellow and orange polystyrene coated in fibreglass and part of a battery were found on Riversdale Beach. The Maranique is coloured white and blue. "We searched the beach but nothing further was found,” Sergeant Geoff Reid of the Master-
ton police said last evening. “There’s nothing to suggest what was found came from the missing vessel. It looks more like part of a windsurfer or surfboard.” Mr Gregory Lawn has been missing for 35 days. He was on a solo voyage in heavy seas from Napier to Christchurch. A lifebelt from the Maranique was found washed up on Portland Island, near Wairoa, last week.
