Meredith to meet Giles
Dave Meredith and Ken Giles will meet in the final of the Canterbury senior billiards championships at the Riccarton Working Men’s Club this evening.
Meredith had little trouble overcoming an old rival, Brian Kirkness 1121-842, in Tuesday night’s semi-finals, fashioning a mighty break of 159 on his fourth visit to the table.
He led, 677-182, at the halfway stage and consolidated his position with two further century breaks. Making his run rather too late, Kirkness had breaks of 63, 84 and 58 at the end.
In the other semi-final Giles shaded Peter De Groot, 1121-842, after the gap had been as narrow as 75 points at one stage in the second session.
