Seminars planned

The first of three seminars organised by the Canterbury branch of the Standardbred Breeders’ Association will be held at the Yaldhurst Hotel next Wednesday evening. Entitled “Stallion and broodmare management,” the seminar will feature an exert from a United States video tape. “The tape has been brought back from North America by Robert McArdle and has excellent quality,” said a branch member, Janette Barson, yesterday. "It is very good and actually goes for six hours, but we will only be showing about half an hour of it,” she said. Guest speakers to follow include Inglewood

thoroughbred studmaster, Nick Wigley, a Christchurch veterinarian, Bruce Taylor, and the Roydon Lodge studmaster, Murray Steel. The second seminar, to be held at the end of July, will cover weaning through to gaiting of the young horse, and the final seminar, in August, is entitled “What makes a champion?”
