New inhaler praised
PA Auckland A solely breathactivated asthma drug inhaler has been released on the market. The aerosol inhaler could replace the press-and-breathe device which often did not give the full dosage if the user had difficulty working it during an attack, a chest physician, Dr Adrian Harrison, said. He said at least half the asthmatics with the
old device did not get the right dosage. The new one could help prevent some of the 200 asthma deaths each year. The new inhaler automatically releases the medication when the user breathes in through the mouthpiece. The Respolin inhaler contains the broncho -dilating drug salbutamol used in two-thirds of aerosol inhalers prescribed.
