Caledonia poll
NZPA-AFP Noumea Nearly 30 per cent of *New Caledonia’s voters had turned out in the first three hours of voting yesterday to elect legislators for three new provincial assemblies, according to official figures. The 26.97 per cent turnout compared to the 27.18 per cent voter turnout
figure at the same point in March municipal elections. Voters are to elect lawmakers to six-year terms in the 32-strong assembly in the southern province, the 15-seat legislature in the north and the sevenmember body representing the three eastern Loyalty Islands.
