New verger for Catholic Cathedral
Mr John Moylan has been appointed verger to the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament in Christchurch. Mr Moylan has taken part in activities at St Matthew’s Parish and is president of the St Vincent de Paul Society. He was born in Timaru, and attended Sacred Heart School and later boarded at St Thomas's Academy, Oamaru. He moved to Christchurch and completed his education at the Marist School. Mr Moylan joined the Railways but after 10 years resigned because of ill health. He began training as a lay brother but withdrew and returned to Christchurch where he worked for about 20 years.
