The Chills, have signed to Slash Records, according to Gary Cope, of Flying Nun Records. Flying Nun will continue to handle The Chills’ records in New Zealand, and will also have the rights to the back catalogue. No decision has been made on Flying Nun’s London office, but the number of records being handled by it will fall. High costs have meant that the office will concentrate on the records of those bands which are touring Europe. Judy Small, an Australian contemporary folk singer/songwriter, will play at the University of Canterbury Students’ Association ballroom on Wednesday. She sold out her only show in Wellington last year, and this prompted a return. She is considered one of Australia’s best folk artists, rating alongside Eric Bogle.
