Spitting fines
NZPA-AAP Sydney The Australian rugby league captain, Wally Lewis, has been fined $2OOO for spitting on an opposition player. Lewis yesterday admitted the offence to the Australian Rugby League chairman, Ken Arthurson, and was fined after a New South Wales Rugby League board meeting in Bathurst. A Gold Coast forward, Jim Cowell, was fined $lOOO for spitting back at Lewis in retaliation during the Brisbane-Gold Coast match at Lang Park last Sunday.
