Placings taken from mare

PA Wellington The long-retired Ma Chiquita has been stripped of her placings in the Chase Corporation Classic at Pukekohe and the Concorde Handicap at Avondale in late 1987. The mare was ineligible to contest the rich sprints in which she placed second and third respectively, a subcommitee of Racing Conference executives found last week. Her part-owner, Christopher Charles Boyle of Auckland, was at the time a prohibited person, an allegation made by Waikato racecourse inspector Bryan McKenzie. The Racing Conference upheld the charge, and has fined Boyle $5OO with $5OO costs. The mare was also disqualified from both races, and her connections have been ordered to refund the stakes she won.

In a separate matter, H. J. Mulqueen of Putaruru has been fined $250 and ordered to pay $250 costs for supplying incorrect information relating to the branding return of the 1987 colt by So Dandy from Graceful Lady. Mulqueen, by way of letter, pleaded guilty to the charge brought against him by Mr McKenzie. A Racing Conference spokesman said there was obviously nothing malicious in the actions of Mulqueen, but the integrity of the Stud Book was paramount.
