Pay equity ‘flawed’
The Employers’ Federation says pay equity is not the way forward for women. The Government has set up a Ministerial committee to oversee implementation of employment equity proposals and legislation is expected to be introduced in October. In a press kit, the federation said pay equity would have serious effects on employment. “Employers do not oppose the concept capriciously.. Rather, we believe the arguments in its favour are flawed, and discriminatory and will undermine employmengppportunities.” —PA.
