Esoteric healing
Sir,—Glenys Walker’s column (April 10) continues to provide free advertising for fringe “medicine.” We are advised that: "Esoteric healing works on the concept that disease (dis-ease) is caused by blocks and constrictions in the body’s energy flow, caused by disharmony between the personality and the soul.” Twenty-four people are invited to a four-day "workshop” on these mysteries, at $250 a pop. Since it is clearly “esoteric” in all three senses of that word, there is little point in asking for scientific justification for it, but some might say that receiving $6OOO for a four-day seance would be good for the soul. Who needs bacteriology when they, can view bubonic plague, cholera and typhus, etc., in this new esoteric light?—Yours, etc.. DAVID SHANKS. April 10, 1989. [Michael and Helen Loxton, who are conducting the workshop, have advised that they do not wish to comment on this letter.]
