Anzac poppies
Sir,—As a retired staff member, and one with a continuing interest in the Canterbury Sheltered Workshops, I write in an effort to correct the impression that the Anzac poppies were made by R.S.A. veterans and I.H.C. trainees. Whilst I was not aware of the involvement of the 1.H.C., I do know that the trainees of the Canterbury Sheltered Workshops made, throughout the year, well in excess of 500,000 poppies. I am aware that there is considerable confusion in the minds of the public as the I.H.C. has a high profile because of the large amount of publicity it receives, but the Canterbury Sheltered Workshops trainees have worked well and willingly at Kilmarnock Enterprises and deserve credit for a job well done. — Yours, etc. . ” B. A. SELLARS. April 21, 1989.
