Hagley Park tramline

Sir, —The idea of a tramway along Worcester Street and through Hagley Park is preposterous. I also remember the trams and more than 30 years ago I was pleased to see them go. Preserve one or two in a museum if you must, but to bring them out in the streets again will only create a traffic hazard. Worse still, the character of Hagley Park would be badly affected by rail tracks, poles, wires and rattling tramcars. The idea is as silly as the town crier proposal. This is the 1990 s coming up, not the 1890s.—Yours, etc.,

S. P. HOLIDAY. April 14, 1989.
