Double standards
Sir,—Congratulations to Andy Haden’s recently formed organisation, “Sports People Against Double Standards.” It is high time this state of affairs was given prominence. Typical of double standards on the part of the Government is Mr Tapsell’s attitude to South Africa, as opposed to other countries. No criticism qf actions against Russia, a country which has murdered millions; black Africa, with its shocking record of injustice, mass murder and torture; and many other countries too numerous to mention in these columns. When .questioned some months ago, Mr Tapsell admitted that he did not know which countries in Africa had the famed "one man, one vote,” and he did not have the time to find out! Obviously, he was not interested. So much for his criticism of “S.P.A.D.S.”—Yours, etc., JOAN WILKINSON. April 8, J 989.
