Woman’s body found
PA Wellington The Wellington police were Investigating the death of a woman whose body was found in an alley off Lambton Quay last evening. The body was found about 9.30 p.m. in Farmers Lane, an alley at the bottom of steps leading to the 1860 Tavern. The police immediately sealed off the alley and the tavern’s other entrance on The Terrace. A large number of tavern patrons and other possible witnesses were interviewed at the central police station. A police spokesman comfirmed the police had begun a homicide inquiry but would not comment on the cause of death.
