The fourth Southern Machinery Show will be opened by the Hon. Mike Moore, Minister of External Relations and Trade at noon on Wednesday,
April 5, at the King Edward Barracks, Christchurch. Manufacturers and distributors will be represented at this exhibition
which focuses on machinery, services, electronic and electrical equipment, industrial safety, exporting and tools. It will provide all those associated with engineering equipment and systems, machinery and industrial services, the ideal opportunity to see the latest developments in their field. A free seminar programme will run during the show as follows:— Peter Clarke, Canterbury Branch President of the Export Institute of N.Z. Inc. Topic: "The Role of the Export Institute as a . service to exporters.” Wednesday, April 5, 12.30 p.m. to 1.30 p.m. John P. Blakeley, Director, Canterprise, University of Canterbury. Topic: “How the University can be of assistance to industry.” Wednesday, April 5, 4.30 p.m. — 5.30 p.m. Thursday, April 6, 11.00 a.m. to 12 noon. Friday, April 7, 11.00 a.m. to 12 noon. Dr N. T. van der Walt, Dean, Faculty of Commerce, University of Canterbury. Topic "New Zealand Export Marketing Practice and performance” Wednesday, April 5, 2.00 p.m. to 3.00 p.m. Thursday, April 6, 10.00 a.m. to 11.00 a.m. Friday, April 7, 3.00 p.m. to 4.00 p.m. The organisers of the show, XPO Exhibitions, Ltd, are one of Australasia’s largest established and most successful trade fair and exhibition organisers. With 18 years experience behind them, 1989 will see XPO’s 205th exhibition.
