Two die in crash
PA Auckland Two Auckland men died when the car they were travelling in struck a concrete power pole in Shore Road, Remuera, yesterday, the police said. They were Grant James Dunlop, aged 19, and Jason Graham Young, aged 20, of St Heliers.
The police said the pair were passengers in a car which left the road and hit the pole with enough force to sever it at its base.
The crash occurred
about 3 a.m. The man, aged 20, driving the vehicle and a passenger, aged 18, suffered minor injuries.
A girl, aged 10, died when she was struck by a car in Papakura in south Auckland. She was Patricia Alison Drummond, of Papakura. The police said the girl had been playing with other children outside a house about 7.30 p.m. on Saturday. She ran on to the road from between two parked cars.
