Morris impressive
A strong turnout of boxers exchanged blows at the Richmond Working Men’s Club tournament yesterday. Danny Morris (Bells) was particularly impressive beating Paul Loveless (Heretaunga) with a 4-1 majority decision and his winning joust is expected to propel him into the New Zealand team. Dave Bishop (Papanui) was unable to fend off Dave Wickenden (Auckland), losing in a 4-1 majority decision after a hard fought bout from both boxers. .
Results: Kevin McKeowen (Richmond) drew with P. McDonald (Woolston); James McDonald (Woolston) beat Damon Ross (Richmond) majority points; David Hose (Dicksons) beat Stephen Roberts (Woolston) r.s.c.; Shaun Unwin (Bisants Gym) beat G. Williams (Ashburton) r.s.c.; Andrew Jackson (Dicksons) beat Leighton Snipper (Richmond), majority points; Brian Chambers (Ashburton) beat Damian McKeowen (Richmond), r.s.c.; Ipolito Falanko (Woolston) beat Andrew McDonald (Timaru), majority points; Watte Raiwalui (Richmond) beat Pele Wato (Woolston), majority points; Coster Peters (Hutt Valley) beat Tony Johnstone (Richmond), knockout 1; Dave Wickenden (Auckland) beat Clive Bishop (Papanui), majority points; Danny Morris (Bells) beat Paul Loveless (Heretaunga), majority points.
