Fijian wing for Queensland
NZPA-AAP Brisbane A rampaging four-try performance for Queensland B against Otago Sub Unions on Saturday has earned the expatriate Fijian wing, Isei Siganyavi, full state honours for the South Pacific Championship match against Canterbury on Sunday. Siganyavi, who plays for G.P.S. in the Brisbane competition, caught the selectors’
eye with his performance in helping Queensland B to a 370, eight-try victory on ' a waterlogged Ballymore pitch. He takes the right wing spot normally held by the veteran, Peter Grigg, who was not considered because of an ankle injury. The inside centre, Dominic Maguire, also did enough in the slush to win a centre spot in the Queensland side along-
side the South American tourist, Anthony Herbert. The Queensland team to play Canterbury is: Greg Martin, Isei Siganyavi, Anthony Herbert, Dominic Maguire, Paul Carozza, Michael Lynagh, Peter Slattery, Sam Scott-Young, Julian Gardner, Jeff Miller, Rod McCall, Bill Campbell, Dan Crowley, Cameron Lillicrap, Mari'
Mcßain. Reserves: Tom Lawton, Michael Crank, Brandan Nasser, Stephen Tait, Mitchell Palm, Andrew King. • Otago beat the Argentine first division rugby union champion, San Isidro Club 2815 in a C.A.N.Z. series match at Velez Sarsfield stadium, Buenos Aires, yesterday. Otago’s powerful forwards gained the upper hand over
the San Isidro pack during the first half, in which the visitors scored most of their points. Scorers: Otago: 28 (Rhys Ellison, John Haggart tries, Cooper 5 penalty goals, conversion, Arthur.; - Stone dropped goal. San Isidro: 15 (Madero try, 2 penalties, conversion), Loffreda penalty goal).
