Play-offs likely
Play-offs could be needed to decide the winners of the New Zealand secondary schools boys’ and girls' softball finals at Burnside High School today. Rotorua Lakes High School, Te Aute College and Birkenhead College are tied at the top of the boys’ competition with six points each while in the girls’ section Timaru G.H.S. and Mana College (Porirua) have both suffered one loss each and are tied for first.
Results. — Boys: Te Aute College (Hawke’s Bay) 10, Timaru B.H.S. 5; Birkenhead College (North Harbour) 9, Cargill H.S. (Invercargill) 5; Birkenhead College 10, Te Aute 9; Rotorua Lakes H.S. 11, Aotea College (Porirua) 2; Cargill H.S. 8, Aotea College 7; Timaru B.H.S. 5, Rotorua Lakes H.S. 3. Girls.— Birkenhead College 14, James Hargest H.S. (Invercargill) 9; Melville H.S. (Waikato) 7, Mana College 5; Timaru G.H.S. 8, Parkway College (Wainuiomata) 5; Mana College 11, James Hargest 3; Melville H.S. 21. Parkway 6; Timaru G.H.S. 7, Birkenhead 4.
