Self-growth plan ‘unbeatable’
PAM MORTON
Mr Ron Urquhart believes he has the selfdevelopment course to beat all others. As the founder of the Australian-based programme, Energy Meditation, Mr Urquhart is in New Zealand to promote his own brand of selfdevelopment.
"It’s not about contemplating your navel, esoteric or any of that guru stuff. It’s pragmatic, down to earth, and works.” The programme was developed by Mr .Urquhart in 1987 and i| the
culmination of about 20 years of research and personal experience. During that time he lived and worked with Aboriginal tribes in Australia, American Indians and as a novice Bhuddist monk in Thailand.
“The EM principal is my principal. It is information that has been around for everyone. “It is personal development for me and is 20 years of me getting me together, and it working.” A new development in the programme is the “prosperity workshop” designed for business
people. Mr Urquhart said the seminar was aimed at small businesses and multi-national companies. Many small businesses failed because those going into the business did not have a clear idea of what they were going to do and why they were doing it, he said.
“What they are doing is sabotaging themselves." Part of Mr Urquhart’s interest in small businesses has stemmed from his work with the Small Business Development Corporation, which is based in Victoria. This)group helps people
intending to set up a business by offering advice and guidance. Mr Urquhart said business development was tied up with personal development. “You can’t fire up your business if your personal life is burning down. To be successful in business you have to be successful in life. Two seminars will be held in Christchurch, at the Autolodge, on Saturday and April 8. A free discussion evening will also be held in the Christchurch Town on April 4. if ‘
