Vital soccer clash
■NZPA-Reuter Paris The French team chief, Michel Platini, has named a mixture of youth and experience for the vital World Cup soccer qualifier against Scotland in Glasgow on March 8. Mr Platini, who needs at least a draw in the European group five qualifier against Scotland to keep France in the running for the 1990 World Cup finals, named one new cap in an 18man squad — as midfielder, Thierry Laurey, of Sochaux. Squad:— Goalkeepers: Joel Bats, Bruno Martini. Defenders: Manuel Amoros, Patrick Battiston, Sylvain Kastendeuch, William Prunier, Franck Silvestre, Luc Sonor. Midfield: Laurent Blanc, Jean-Philippe Durand, Thierry Laurey, Franck Sauzee, Jean Tigana, Jose Toure. Attack: Stephane Paille, Jean-Pierre Papin, Christian Perez, Daniel Xuereb.
