Butter problem
Sir,—lt is my job to make the kids’ lunches. I do this late at night, and sometimes I quite enjoy it. The problem is, I have to soften the butter in the microwave before I can spread it on the bread. But I also own a Duke of Edinburgh award winning fridge, about two years old. The butter “softener” is some kind of sick joke. It worked half-heart-edly for a while then not at all, so I called the local lad from the power board who smiled knowingly and intimated that the said appliance was "nearly useless.” Does the Duke know this? I am a restaurant chef-proprietor. My reputation swings on every meal I put on a plate. Are there a different set of rules for manufacturers of whiteware? — Yours, etc.,
