Refugee deported
The Hungarian-born refugee, Joseph Tarkany, was deported yesterday. Tarkany, aged 51, was escorted from Paparua Prison and flew from Auckland to Hungary, which is allowing him entry.
Tarkany had been held in prison awaiting deportation after serving six months of an eight month sentence for charges involving explosives. Previous efforts by the Immigration Department to deport him had failed because no country would admit him.
