Key semi-final clash
PA Wellington Hutt Valley faces a crucial round-robin clash with Auckland today as semi-final places beckon at the national colts softball tournament at Lower Hutt. At the end of yesterday’s matches Auckland had one loss while Canterbury, Hutt Valley and Wellington had all been beaten twice. Hutt Valley now needs to beat Auckland in an afternoon match today to leave the four teams tied up and to force
the need for play-offs. Results:—Hutt Valley 9, Bay of Plenty 1; Wellington 7, Hawke’s Bay 1; North Harbour 12, Manawatu 0; Canterbury 6, Southland 2; Auckland 13, Waikato 0; Hutt Valley 4, Hawke’s Bay 0; Bay of Plenty 19, Manawatu 18; Wellington 3, Counties 0; Canterbury 13, North Harbour 0; Southland 16, Waikato 6; Manawatu 5, Hawke’s Bay 1; Counties 1, Hutt Valley 2; Auckland 5, Wellington 1; Canterbury 10, Bay of Plenty 9.
