Solicitor struck off
PA Wellington A Napier solicitor, Patrick Barry Prescott, has been struck off the rols by the Law Practitioners’ Disciplinary Tribunal. At a hearing in Wellington on Tuesday, Prescott pleaded guilty to seven charges of failing to bank in a trust account, clients’ money amounting to 15430 and to fraudulently to account for this
money to his legal partners. He also pleaded guilty to 11 charges of taking clients’ money for expenses and not accounting for them. The tribunal’s chairman, Mr Neville Marquet, noted they were often small sums, but the action was inappropriate for a solicitor. Prescott was ordered to costs of $12,422.
