Search for funds
The search for funds to buy a new breast-screen-ing machine has been passed on to the Canterbury Hospital Board’s corporate management group. A board member, Mrs Caroline Cartwright, said the issue had been dealt
with by the health services committee, which did not have direct access to funds. Several questions about a replacement mammography machine needed to be answered and the most appropriate arena was the board’s corporate man-
agement group, said Mrs Cartwright.
The board has been told its existing breast screening machine, installed in 1977, is obsolete and replacing it should be a top priority. A new machine will cost $125,000.
