Royals’ fourth win
Royals collected its fourth win of the post-Christmas competition with a 6-0 scoreline against Papanui in premier men’s softball last evening. That success has ensured that Merivale will end up with the wooden spoon.
Four of Royals’ runs against Papanui came in the top of the fourth inning, three of those on one two-base hit to centre-field by Pieter Vandenberg. Royals decisively outbatted Papanui with 10 safe hits to three. Both Noble Te Kawa and Vandenberg collected two each. Pitching for Royals, Matt Sheehan took five strike-outs.
