World Bank visitor
The World Bank president, Mr Barber Conable, will visit New Zealand this month to spread the word about the development and lending policies of the institution and New Zealand’s contributions to it. The $2.1 trillion debt burden carried by developing countries environmental problems caused by main World Bank funded projects in Brazil, India and other countries, the poverty programmes, and bank policies in the Pacific region are expected to be part of Mr Conable’s talks with Government leaders.
