Apprentice to study in Melbourne
Mr Dean Pendrigh, a senior apprentice at the Christchurch Botanical Gardens, has been awarded the 1989 P. C. Browne Scholarship in horticulture. Mr Pendrigh, who is studying for his Trade examinations, has an interest in native plants and is a member of the New Zealand Botanical f and Canterbury Botanical Societies, the New Zealand Native Orchid Group and the New Zealand Alpine Garden Society. He will take up his 12month scholarship soon at the Melbourne City Parks and Gardens Department, where he will learn more about Australian native plants and practices in a different environment. ?
