New man at Avalon
PA Wellington The Broadcasting Corporation’s personnel services director, Reg Russ, has been appointed managing director of TVNZ’s Avalon studios.
He will be charged with revamping Avalon, which is expected to be incorporated as a limited liability subsidiary within the newly created TVNZ State-owned enterprise. Mr Russ, aged 50, has spent 34 years in public broadcasting, much of it in radio. He was trained for television when it was introduced in New Zealand in the early 1960 s and was responsible for conversion training for colour television’s introduction in the early 19705.
