PA Wanganui A slow start in the opening Formula 1 race yesterday cost the 21-year-old Manawatu racer, Jason McEwen, eventual outright victory in the 1988 New Zealand international motor-cycle road racing series which ended on Wanganui Cemetery Circuit. McEwen and Tauranga’s Robbie Dean share the title. The two Suzuki riders finished four days of racing at three North Island tracks with 137 points each, Dean snatching the lead in the closing stages of the final 15lapper of the series yesterday to force a tie.
