Ratu Mara ill
NZPA Suva
Fiji’s interim Prime Minister, Ratu Sir Kamisese Mara, is expected to
be in hospital for a few days after fainting at a golf course on Saturday afternoon.
The medical superintendent of Suva’s Colonial War Memorial Hospital, Dr Jo Taka, said Ratu Mara was eating well but preferred to stay in hospital for a few days.
The Prime Minister was rushed to hospital after collapsing at a golf course in Pacific Harbour, 80km from Suva. There were fears he had suffered a heart attack and was in a more serious condition. However, Dr Taka said yesterday the 68-year-old Prime Minister fainted from exhaustion and “certainly” did not have a heart attack.
