Total down slightly
Price increases matched by reductions, and some common sense helped slightly lower the total of this month’s “Press” shopping basket from November’s total.
The biggest increase occurred in eggs which were 53c dearer than last month’s price, and toothpaste showed some effects of a price war by being down 56c on last month. Cheese continues to fluctuate at 22c dearer, while yoghurt lost 6c on last month’s price. Packs of 60 regular tampons varied most in price. The cheapest was $10.75, but some shops were selling them at almost $1 more.
